Snap Tech Headquarters
Venice, California
In seeking to create a more comfortable and hospitable workplace, a tech company needed outdoor spaces where team members could gather for meetings, enjoy lunch, or get fresh air during the work day.
Working with DU Architects, SALT transformed a former commercial complex into a tranquil walled garden.
Architectural Harmony
On a site that had been dominated by utilitarian storefronts and parking, DU Architects envisioned sleek, wood-clad forms defined by an exposed structure in black steel.
SALT developed a palette of landscape materials that complement the warmth and texture of the wooden façades.
A Hidden Courtyard
A massive wall in Corten steel encloses the campus. Visitors and employees arrive through a heavy gate, stepping into a private environment where the sounds of the street outside are distant and muffled.
The wall’s rust-colored surface is alternately exposed between tall, sculptural Euphorbia cactus or obscured behind fluffy fern pine and toyon.
Custom wooden furniture offers people different places to sit throughout the day: at old-school picnic tables under shade, on freestanding benches or chairs, or on fixed stools against a built-in bar.
