Snap Campus

Snap Campus

Santa Monica, California

Snap Campus expands the workplace beyond the office interior, replacing a surface parking lot with a flexible outdoor park for informal meetings, outdoor work, events, and everyday interaction.

The design reimagines the campus as a connected, walkable landscape, where pathways and open space support the everyday rhythms of work, rest, and community. It is a workplace shaped as much by its outdoor life as by its buildings.

Beyond the Office: A Campus Park Reimagined

Spread across four buildings, the campus called for strategies that strengthen pedestrian movement at numerous scales, from the surrounding neighborhood down to the connections between buildings.

A clear arrival experience and circulation spine guide visitors and employees through the site, connecting workplaces to outdoor amenities. Upgraded crosswalks improve wayfinding, and two courtyards capture Southern California's indoor-outdoor lifestyle: one active and café-adjacent for collaboration, the other a quiet garden for wellness and reflection.

An Anchor For Gathering

The Park Cafe extends an existing café outdoors, centered around raised corten steel planters of edible plants with integrated seating, several built with RAD Furniture. Wood decks, a shade structure, and a citrus-lined trellis create shaded circulation. A landscape buffer shields the space from street noise, while shade structures by Office Untitled support natural ventilation and passive cooling

The Pines

At the opposite end of campus, the Pines brings a park-like green space anchored by a grass meadow and wood deck, framed by shade trees and climate-appropriate planting that immerses visitors while buffering traffic noise. It also anchors a new north-south pedestrian axis, lined with a tree allée, linking into the broader campus circulation network.

Throughout, asphalt gives way to heat-absorbing hardscape and drought-tolerant California native planting, reducing the campus's carbon footprint.
