PARK EDGES
Working with The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks as well as Streets LA, we analyzed streets that border park edges looking for opportunities for potential design guidelines and standardized improvements, using Stoner Park and Loren Miller Park as case studies.
The design charette process, in collaboration with our project partners at Harris & Associates, included gathering community input and studying universal park access, surrounding demographics, and nearby facilities.
Our suggested design improvements include native plant palettes and pollinator gardens, landscape tree wells, benches, workout circuits, and wayfinding signage. Transportation improvements provide increased safety and access measures, including perimeter walkways with mile markers, mid-block crossing infiltration bump outs, bike lanes and bike storage.
